Introduction
Title: None Like Him: 10 Ways God is Different From Us (And Why that’s a Good Thing)
Author: Jen Wilkin
Publisher: Crossway
Publication Date: 2016
Format: Print book
Length: 163 pages
OVERVIEW
Jen Wilkin takes us on an incredible journey to learn more about who God is. While reading this book we should ask ourselves, “How should the knowledge that God is universal, unchanging, all-knowing, all gracious, and all controlling change the way we perceive and serve him?”
Drawing directly on biblical descriptions of God and historical relations of man and God, this book seeks to make God understandable, yet worthy of love and devotion. Each chapter opens with Bible quotations, and throughout the lessons numerous scripture passages are presented as evidence of the author’s beliefs about the nature of God. Prompts at the end of each chapter provide material to contemplate, pray about, and research further. Following a pattern of examining key elements of God’s being—his majesty, his righteousness, his wisdom, his love, his creativity—the book motivates readers to take notes that can be used for personal devotional studies and times of meditation and prayer. Although the book is theologically sound, its tone is more personal and similar to a conversation than a sermon or lecture.
