OVERVIEW

In his latest book, renowned philosopher and teacher Dallas Willard provides a fresh examination of Psalm 23 and explains how modern Christians can put its words of praise and its lessons in gratitude and obedience into daily practice. He also answers questions concerning what scripture has to say about faith among those who feel validated in complaining about their circumstance and about questioning the good nature of God.  Some may ask why a table needs to be prepared for them in the presence of their enemies when it would be far better to have no enemies to begin with.

Willard uses this beloved psalm as a stepping off point for clearing up confusion about many modern controversial topics, including those who preach a prosperity gospel and those who are trying to reinterpret the gospel to make it more in line with hyper-liberal political agendas. This book has the potential to have a radical impact on one’s faith.   Willard asserts that the 23rd Psalm shows the personal and practical ways God loves his children and cares for them, for the psalm talks about food, protection, relaxation, fellowship, and victory over fear, all factors that go into making life joyful, fulfilling, and stress free.  Nevertheless, Willard also reminds his readers that they have an obligation to appreciate the generosity and provisions of God by spending time in prayer and worship and study of the scriptures.
