OVERVIEW

The church has forgotten its roots. The Apostles’ Creed has shaped the doctrine of the church for more than two thousand years. With the prosperity gospel and pluralistic views attempting to dominate the cultural outlook of Western Christianity, the author seeks to show how each stanza of the creed has an unshakable impact on one’s faith.

Each chapter tackles a different line of the creed. For instance, “Whence He Shall Come to Judge the Quick and the Dead,” illustrating biblical passages that strengthen support for why each element of the creed is essential to Christianity.

The book contains no dearth of theological strength and aptitude. Nevertheless, it runs into a problem of execution. The audience for the book is rather unclear. It seems directed at Christians who are somewhat early along in their faith. However, the academic nature of the writing would make it difficult for readers of that target audience to slog through the 200 pages. Other than the problem of voice and audience, the book displays its arguments with excellent organization and implementation.
