OVERVIEW
Jeff Davidson and his wife, Becky, are the parents of a young man with cerebral palsy and autism. Jeff describes his initial feelings of failure and sadness when they realize their child has special needs. He takes the readers through the good times and bad times and allows us to see him at his worst. Then he takes us on a journey of self-discovery and joy in his son and the life the Lord has planned for them. He gives wonderful Scriptural advice to any father of a child with special needs but also to any father, actually to any parent. His advice is down to earth, practical, very clearly spelled out and always with compassion. He uses military words and descriptions such as being drafted, basic training, surviving civilian assault, etc. which only enhances what he has to say.
Jeff was no stranger to pain as he suffered from various physical illnesses that ultimately led to his death in 2017 at the age of 50. His wife Becky has continued their work of encouraging families and building endurance in them for the path ahead. This book is highly recommended.
