February 1887 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, neighbors and friends Micah Hamilton and Charlotte Aldrich both face family deaths during a freezing and devastating winter. Grief and guilt haunt each of these friends.

They both lost family and animals as well as, and most importantly, their belief in God. Micah particularly abandons his father’s dreams of a thriving ranch and cuts himself off from friends and family. But Charlotte has always loved him and is determined to bring  back the old Micah. Of course, there is treachery involved that threatens their relationship but can love really conquer all?
