Mentoring

Need some guidance with starting or running a church library?

Online, and sometimes in-person (depending on your region), mentoring is available from veteran librarians for FREE, as a ministry service!

Types of Mentoring

Our volunteer mentors can assist you with issues such as:

  • Collection development.
  • Recruiting, managing, and retaining volunteers.
  • Promoting and marking your church library.
  • Running a summer reading program or book club.
  • Selecting, and implementing a library catalog, circulation system, or web OPAC.
  • Investigating and working with ebooks.

How To Request Mentoring

You do not need to be an ECLA member to request mentoring!

To request a mentor, please contact mentor@eclalibraries.org.

How To Serve As a Mentor

Do you feel a calling to serve other church librarians, or those interested in starting up a church library? ECLA needs experienced (even somewhat experienced) church librarians with expertise in the areas mentioned above in Types of Mentoring.

Mentoring can be done via email, by phone, or in-person (if you live near someone who wants help). It can take as little as just a couple hours a month (you decide how much time you can serve). Any time you can give will be valued and appreciated.

To volunteer as a mentor, please contact mentor@eclalibraries.org.
