OVERVIEW

The subtitle to Sampson’s book is Listening for Hope in the Midst of Lament. Lament or Lamentation is what this book is all about. The author has had her share of harsh realities and has arrived at the good (God’s good) that comes from lamenting. In the midst of suffering and like most of us she has suffered, God has brought some peace and hope to her through lament. Lamenting becomes the path between hopelessness and hope itself. The title refers to the louder song that God Himself sings, louder than our suffering.

Sampson writes from her heart, sparing little, and you feel she is empathizing with what you yourself are going through. Laments from Scripture are included at the end of each chapter, significant to the subject of that particular chapter, and they speak to our suffering and needs.
