OVERVIEW

Coming in at 4th in the Elite Guardians series, Chasing Secrets offers a broad array of characters and drama. Because the book is not long, I find it to be a complimentary page turner that definitely has the feel of a fourth book, for it offers more in the way of character back story, character arc, and plot momentum. A focus on Haley Callaghan is maintained throughout the book, as she endures the confusion and mystery of her forgotten past. Her role in the Elite Guardians has given her a new grip on life, so the last thing she needs is something bringing her back to her former home of Ireland. However, when she notices a mysterious individual following her throughout her typical days, she confronts him and discovers he is a messenger sent to give her information that will drastically alter her life. Haley frets about how to balance her desire to follow this discovery while she is already responsible for dealing with a different turbulent case she has pledged to resolve.  The tension mounts as her caseload increases. Her faith is challenged as she deals with examining her personal identity and her call to serve and protect and help others.

Christian Impact

This book reminds readers that life is not always easy. Hardships will appear, but God can be trusted for guidance and inspiration. Ministering to those who do not believe is part of a Christian’s obligation. Haley discovers this as she tries to understand the complexities of her life and how life lessons may help her be a role model for others.
