OVERVIEW

From the time their alarms go off in the morning until they collapse into bed, people’s schedules pull them in all different directions. Christians feel this strain, too, which means prayer can get crowded off their to-do lists. Kathi Lambrides Westlund responded to this problem by writingPrayer PathWay. In this book, she guides readers through eight different aspects of prayer. After briefly explaining each one, she lets readers write the rest of the book by providing prayer exercises and blank pages for them to use. This way, busy Christians can tailor their five to ten minutes of daily prayer to suit their needs, allowing them to spend quality time with God before going to work or rushing their kids to school.

Westlund’s content is practical and to-the-point, but her writing style flows more like music than a textbook. Her explanations both make sense and move the heart, and the prayer exercises don’t have to be used a specific way or completed in a rigid order. As a result, readers who feel trapped by their schedules can experience freedom in their short time with God. I highly recommend this book to those who want to talk with the Lord every day but need to make every second of their limited free time count.
