Young single mother, Val Locklier, moves from Alaska to Washington for a new job with her young son. It seems like everything falls apart including the apartment she thought that she had secured. Her new boss lets her rent an upstairs apartment from her brother who is a minister in Mexico on mission work.

Pastor Miles McKenzie returns from his short-term mission trip to discover that he has a new tenant living upstairs and that he has been reassigned to a local ministry that has not been active for two years. Disillusioned and restless, he throws his energy and efforts into new projects and pursuing that same tenant, Val.
