The setting is Ballybofey, County Donegal, February 1, 1912.  Saoirse Fagan has lost her childhood home and family. This story starts when she is delivered to a castle door to start a new job as housemaid. No one answers. A neighbor strolls by and tells her the owner has died, just a week before, and his wife left home.

Saorise has nowhere to go. She walks into the unknown, a downpour erupts and she is picked up by Aileen McCready who offers a stall in a shed to stay for the night. This is a heartwarming story about need, warmth and friendships formed. Aileen’s brother needs her assistance to keep the family farm going but is not sure about accepting her help.
