The Dogwood Gospel

Cindy Morgan has once again graced us with a book that is not to be missed. She pens a story of young Charlie whose life has had more than one huge twist to it. Taken from her home after her mother was killed, she is left on the doorstep of a couple who have lost their daughter. What happens to her after that is not to be missed.

This is a story that kept me focused from the beginning to end, The Dogwood Gospel  is one of those books that will remain with your long after you are finished. It is a unique storyline that might sound uninteresting, but don’t miss out on learning a little bit about a group of people that were in the margins of society. Even to this day those that belong to and work for the little circuses/fairs that traveled the country in the 50’s are considered to be living outside mainstream norms. Your heart will break for young Charlie as she works to navigate not only her own history but also a life that she knows little about.

I recommend The Dogwood Gospel for anyone looking for something to read that will take you on a journey of discovery and even hopefulness; one that makes you realize that families come in all shapes and sizes.
