Introduction

Title: Sensible Shoes Series:  Sensible Shoes, Two Steps Forward, and Barefoot

Author: Sharon Garlough Brown

Publisher: InterVarsity Press

Publication Date: 2013-2016

Format: Print book

Length: Approximately 340 pages each

OVERVIEW

The three books currently in this series follow the stories of four women who meet for the first time at a retreat center where they attend a spiritual journey on how to deepen their relationships with God through prayer and other spiritual disciplines.  Each of the four women are coming from different backgrounds and circumstances in their lives, but their story of developing friendships with each other while learning more about themselves and finding ways to deepen their relationship with God is also helpful to the reader who may also want to broaden their spiritual journey.  As they strap on their sensible shoes we learn about their past lives, their gratitude, grief, longings, and hopes and the joy they receive from laying everything before God.  With well-developed characters, I found myself looking forward to each of the next two books to learn more about their joys and heartaches and how they each grew in their journey to be more like Christ.
