OVERVIEW

This book is a collection of verses and art for daily meditation. On each of the 365 pages there is a verse that offers inspiration, hope, reassurance, security, blessing, or worship, and each verse overlays a colorful photograph or pattern. Promises include: “And those who know Your name put their trust in You, for You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You,” (Psalm 9:10), “He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake,” (Psalm 23:3), and “The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life,” (Job 33:4). With visual and spiritual draw, Daily Promises from God is a petite book that is fitting as a gift for a friend in need of a spiritual boost or as a personal daily devotional text that encourages prayers of gratitude, respect, and obedience to the Lord.

    Although this book achieves its purpose in aesthetic appeal, it does leave a bit to be desired in content. There is some repetition in verses, changed only by the font and the photograph in the background. Most of the selections are from the King James Bible, so the words’ artistry is favored over ease of understanding. The book also could have benefited from reflections upon the verses to provide a new perspective on their promises. However, the goal of this book is not to be a text for biblical analysis, merely for eye appeal and emotional support, and to that end it serves its purpose.
