OVERVIEW

     Daniel Morris uses his inside experience as a worship pastor to guide and instruct those working in the music ministry. This book is divided into three sections, each building on the foundation set by the previous section. Its quick chapters are  easy to read, avoiding complex music theory and theology. Instead, he highlights his main ideas and then uses conversational language to explain his lessons, suggestions, and procedures. Review questions and challenges at the end of each chapter aid in the learning experience and are an excellent resource for church book groups.

     Morris follows a natural progression, beginning with self-improvement in personal faith and relationships. He then moves to cultivating relationships in the church and building effective and realistic programs. Finally, he approaches the area of ministerial growth and outreach. Anecdotes of personal experiences in the ministry display his lessons in action. Morris not only discusses the role of faith in the ministry, but he also focuses on the professional aspects of building an administrative program that integrates music and media into a modern worship experience. Although his main focus is on worship ministry leadership, Morris brings up many other lessons that can be applied to everyday life.
