OVERVIEW

This is not just another spiritual disciplines primer, it’s a practical, vulnerable journey into keeping the Sabbath. Barton, who holds a Doctor of Divinity degree from Northern Seminary, says Sabbath is a gift God designed for the body of Christ, not just the ancient Israelites. She challenges each reader to fall in love with Sabbath and to work diligently to prepare and celebrate a consistent, intentional weekly day of rest.

Additionally, she recommends celebrating in community, with family and with a church family, because community helps us withstand interruptions that would derail our best intentions. Added value items include a Sabbath worksheet, a section on sabbaticals, recommendations on setting boundaries, journaling prompts, and a conversation guide suitable for groups.
