Overview:

The setting for this historical fiction is London. the Fall of 1881. Rose Finlay is a 30 year old widow who is independent with no plans for marriage or romance. She attempts to help her mother-in-law despite the fact that her mother-in-law wants to control Rose’s life.

Rose then learns of a young lady who is being preyed upon by a wealthy titled man who has a reputation as a womanizer. Rose befriends that young lady partly because the situation brings back bitter memories and she cannot help but want to protect the young woman.

John Milburn has responsibility for his two nieces but fears he has met his match with the powerful man intent on ruining his family and his charges. John and Rose join forces, putting everything they love on the line.
