First in series entitled A Pearl River Novel , Alexis’ grandfather has health issues and appoints Alexis as his interim replacement of sheriff for Russell County, Tennessee. A serial killer strikes in her hometown and although this job is supposed to be only temporary, Alexis cannot ignore it importance or danger.

Complicating matters is Nathan Landry – he and Alexis were high school sweethearts and he is still in love with her. He wants to protect her but has to bring this killer to justice.

A good combination of romance and mystery!
