Format:

Paperback

Length:

174 pages

Overview:

Lutie (Luther) McBride and his granddaughter Buddie are the main characters in this well written tale for middle readers. A mystery involving none other than President Lincoln is central to the story but the setting of 1977 is an integral part. Readers will gain some historical basis from that time period (doesn’t seem all that long ago to many of us) and will enjoy the references to music, the relationship between Lutie and Buddie, as well as young love. The writing is honest, dealing with poverty and loss but nevertheless leaves readers with hope and anticipation!
