The Magi society is one that is well respected and held in high esteem. Our main character is Akilah, a priest-scholar who discovers a new star and Jewish prophecies that point to an eternal king. That being a dangerous thing to Persia purists, Akilah is imprisoned for crimes he didn’t commit. He must free himself so that he can reach Jerusalem to see for himself. Dangers abroad and dangers at home plague Akilah and his colleagues-they know they have to decide how far they will go to defend their newfound beliefs.
