Overview:

In 1821 England, Anne Loveday swears off getting married. She is determined to lead a single life but one that makes a difference. She accepts an invitation from an old friend to return to Painswick, a place where she has many happy memories. Once there it is strange that she is asked to take care of Lady Celia who once refused to let her nephew marry Anne’s sister. Anne takes the job but takes it reluctantly.

There are a lot of family rivalries and conflicts within the house and eventually Anne determines that someone is trying to kill her patient. Murder and romance both abound, perhaps a combination of Agatha Christie and Jane Austen as the Amazon description calls it.
