Overview:
There is something about reading a fiction story and having a whole new thread of history open up to you. Sarah Sundin is very good at presenting those interesting little tidbits in her books.
We all know the story of Guernsey Island because of a different title, but did you know that the island of Jersey was also invaded by the Germans during WWII? I know, neither did I. Sundin opens that story up to us in her book Mists over the Channel Islands.
Dr. Ivy Picot is trying to keep her family’s offices open after her father leaves to join the English army. When the Germans invade Jersey Island, they bring along a whole different set of problems to deal with. Not only does she struggle because not everyone likes a woman doctor, now there are rumors going around that her family is not to be trusted.
It is always intriguing to read about ways people are willing to sacrifice everything, even their lives, to fight on the side of right. It is even more interesting when you realize this book is based on true stories. If you are a WWII fan, make sure you find Sundin’s books and enjoy.
