Micah and Trudy might be called best friends, especially when it comes to birding. Their passion for birds tops all their other interests but Trudy would like that relationship to be deeper. Yet Trudy’s sister Shelley, a troubled young woman, seems to dog Micah’s mind so that he cannot forget her. When Shelley leaves him cryptic messages asking for rescue, Micah is determined to find her.

At the same time, issues between local Amish groups in Stoney Ridge cause Bishop David Stotzfus to consider relocating the group he leads. What a perfect opportunity for Micah to suggest Tennessee, the very locale where he believes Shelley is being held. A fact finding group sets out, including Micah, searching for a relocation site and for Shelley. Surprises abound all around, nothing is quite as expected.

Christian impact:

The wisdom of Bishop David Stoltzfus alone would be  reason enough to read this book. He is a man “who ran everything by the Lord first”. Oh, that we might follow his example.
