Overview:
I had this book on my TBR (to be read) list with the idea of I will get to it soon. Well, the bookstore ran out, along with all the other places and it got me wondering why. I found out very quickly; it is a lovely book set during WWII in a small town near Atlanta. It is a charming place where The Brunswick, which was a beautiful hotel. turned into a grocery store after Cora’s mom left and her father lost heart.
I found this a cozy little read that I wanted to return to over and over so I could continue the story of Cora and Thomas and the sleepy little town they were a part of. They were all just trying to live their lives as the world around them fell apart.
Do yourself a favor and if you haven’t already, put this on your TBR list/pile and then find some quiet time and enjoy to your hearts content.
Rating:
5 out of 5
Suggested audience:
Particularly fans of historical fiction
Christian impact:
This is a sincere story told from the heart about people who are going through some very tough times and yet handling them with honesty and integrity.
