Overview:

Cousins Nora and Allie are sent by their grandmother to Scotland to claim an inheritance and retrieve an old diary. These girls have a relationship that is more like sisters than merely cousins so the prospect of the trip is very exciting.

The girls run into a lot of obstacles so decide to also enjoy Scotland while they are figuring everything out. Shortbread at a local bakery fits into this as well, thus the title. As they experience Scotland and delights such as shortbread, they consider what God is attempting to teach them.

Their Gran’s past has a lot to do with the sequence of events as well which brings some important decisions to Allie and Nora. Will their life continue as is or be changed drastically? Readers will feel they have had a min-trip to Scotland themselves.  This would be great for a book club.
