What would you do if the person in charge of your life (in this case, your uncle) is determined to link you in betrothal to a man you cannot stand, a man who only wants you as a trophy wife in the world of the privileged? Audra Bancroft is in that very spot and feels compelled to escape by disappearing!

She takes a job on a farm, one run by a family where they all work together and their faith in God is very strong. Audra is not accustomed to hard work but determines that she will do what she has to do! The eldest son, Tobias, is the “hardest nut to crack” so to speak, in other words they hardest to win over. But certain situations draw them together until a lie told by Audra connects her to Tobias in a way neither ever expected.
