Overview:
Miri Schrock is a good hearted young woman who took care of Old Tom Yoder until the day he died, not expecting anything in the way of an inheritance. Yet Old Tom left everything to her, not only shocking Miri but the townspeople and all of Tom’s family. Of course, the family feel that Miri has orchestrated it in some way (although she didn’t) and also feel they have been cheated of what is rightfully theirs!
The bishop’s decision draws Moses Yoder (grandson to Old Tom) and Miri together in ways neither would have expected and, of course, the result is one of that only God could have planned.
