Steven Layne: Keynote Speaker

The power and impact of story is unparalleled; University professor and award-winning children’s/young adult author Steven L. Layne inspires listeners with a look at just how powerful story can be, and along the way he truly honors those who care for stories the most—librarians!  As always, Steven draws forth a few tears, a lot of laughs, and still manages to send the audience away with a burning desire to keep doing what they do—better than they’ve ever done it before.

Allie Pleiter – Obstacle Illusions

The bestselling author of over fifty titles, Allie Pleiter’s twenty-year career has sold 1.6 million books.  She is also  a nominee for the American Christian Fiction Writers’ Carol Award for this year. Allie also coaches on writing productivity and speaks nationally on time management for creatives. She is an avid knitter, confirmed coffee junkie and firm believer that “pie makes everything better.” She lives in the suburbs of Chicago with her husband and the world’s most adorable dog.

Life feels filled with obstacles. Fighting against discouragement and weariness feels like a constant uphill battle—until we realize one vital truth: thanks to the mighty God we serve, obstacles are illusions. They only seem daunting from our viewpoint. Allie Pleiter, author of over 50 novels and the My Daily Momentum journal, shares her personal techniques for shifting our view, relying on God, and celebrating even the smallest steps forward. Are you facing obstacles that are really “obstacle illusions’? Learn how to tap into joy and resilience instead.

Julie Allyson Ieron

Julie-Allyson Ieron is one of ECLA’s regular reviewers. She is a worship minister, special-events speaker, seminary student, cancer survivor, and 24/7 companion to her senior-adult mom. Julie also is author of 40 Christian living and Bible study books, including The Overwhelmed Woman’s Guide to Caring for Aging Parents, Sisters in Faith Bible Studies, and her latest, Don’t Let This Throw You!, a gripping story of how God shows Himself faithful in our times of greatest test.

Her heartfelt message for Fall 2022 draws from this book (whose title echos John 14:1) to equip fellow believers to be unshakeable, steady, and immovable as we engage our communities and culture.
