OVERVIEW
This memoir picks up where Janzen’s previous book, Mennonite in a Little Black Dress, leaves off. She has met “Mr. Right” and the relationship is progressing. One of the surprising things she finds about her new “truck driver, weight lifting” guy, is that he has a strong Christian faith and is committed to his church.
Since she has spent her life, up to this point, trying to separate herself from the faith of her family of origin, this new circumstance is a little uncomfortable for her at first, but she gradually comes to embrace it.
Just as the couple begins to get serious, she finds out she has cancer. Mitch vows to stay with her through her illness, and eventually they get married. The best part of this book is the positive happy ending, where she she survives her illness and has built a Christ-centered life with Mr. Right.
