OVERVIEW

This is an interesting story with a little different twist from some more typical Amish fiction. Leisel Bachmann has almost finished her nurses training and is in a relationship with Nick Jordan, a great guy who seems to support her in every way. She has left her Amish roots but before baptism so she has not been shunned by her family. Her plans come crashing down when her sister Marie is diagnosed with cancer and she returns home to take care of her.

Meanwhile Nick makes a life decision without really discussing it with Liesel (although to tell the truth she doesn’t want to talk about it and avoids the conversation at every turn). While staying with her Amish family, her Aunt shares the story of Leisel’s grandfather during World War II, a story that helps her make some serious decisions in her own life.
