Overview:

This is a delightful Amish story set in Stoney Ridge, Pennsylvania. The unusual aspect of A season on the wind is the inclusion of birding in a variety of ways. Ben Zook is a famous birder who has written many books on the subject. He is on the trail of his nemesis, the white-winged tern. Micah Weaver is famous in his own right, locally, in Stoney Ridge. When a white-winged tern is spotted in that area, Ben arrives hoping to spot the elusive bird himself as the “icing on the cake” for his latest book. But Ben, who has traveled the world as a twitcher, finds himself laid low with a bout of malaria and forced to stay at the Weavers to recuperate. Penny Weaver, Micah’s sister, remembers Ben so well from a summer some years ago but strangely Ben seems to have no recollection of their encounters.

The story is one of love and forgiveness and  discovering one’s true self. You will be uplifted and inspired in the reading. Each chapter opens with a page, as it were, from a birder’s journal about a particular bird, some unique and some more common. A glossary of birding is also included which is very helpful.
