Author Jones takes readers on an interesting journey through time and totally different lifestyles, different lifetimes. Alexander Brunet and his sister Pauline are the main characters that we follow from life as peasants in 18th century France through a mysterious cave to the city of Santosa which seems like it is the perfect place to live. Yet is any place really perfect? The Brunets then find themselves in, of all places, modern day New York City. Throughout the book we are confronted with capitalism, democracy and freedom. And the age old question is where does God fit into all this? A very unique and compelling story.
