Overview:

March 1883, traveling home for a funeral, a wounded gentleman is encountered. Doctor-in-training, Louisa Vaughn, revives him, gets him into their carriage and brings him to Sweetwater Crossing, Texas, to fix his broken leg. Louisa was only intending to be there to help a friend for a few days but feels she cannot abandon the injured man. She stays on to serve as the town doctor and midwife. Not yet fully qualified she can still fill in where there is no doctor or midwife.

But several things enfold in this small rural community. The town rejects a woman midwife, healer or doctor. There is actually someone who is trying to sabotage her intentions to become a doctor. Yet as Josh heals he also develops a great admiration for Louisa’s bravery and love blooms between the two of them.
