OVERVIEW

Cora lives in Hrimsby, and it is winter.  Every year, for four months, a harsh winter grips her town and many families lose members to starvation or a coughing sickness.  Their rulers tell them the Winter King, their god, has ordained this time but will see them through if they just keep giving tithes and offerings.  But gradually Cora discovers that all is not well, and when she takes the bold step to invade the Winter King’s temple to plead for her life, she discovers something that changes everything.

ASSESSMENT
Rating (1 to 5):

4 out of 5

Suggested Audience:

This book is aimed at teens but is an excellent read for adults as well.

Christian Impact:

Underlying this fantasy story and becoming clear towards the end is the idea that there are many counterfeits for the one true God in the world, and many evil people who use those lies to control others.  However, the true King will triumph.
