Overview:

This smallish, rather plain looking book is a treasure.  According to the book cover, “Some stories change, challenge, and give you courage. This is one of those stories.” I couldn’t agree more. Although I had certainly heard of the Stams, discovering their story and how they lived out their lives for Jesus, was inspiring and encouraging. John and Betty met in 1929 at Moody Bible Institute, then later in China. They fell in love with each other and with the Chinese people, committing to mission work in that country. Their young lives ended when they were kidnapped by Chinese soldiers and ransomed. Their martyrdom captured the world’s attention and brought their sacrifice and willingness to glorify God in whatever state to the attention of people all over the globe.

Letters from both John and Betty are included in this book as well as many poems penned by Betty and John’s graduation speech from 1932. These items beautifully illustrate the heart and legacy of John and Betty Stam.
