Every publishing company has a beginning. Ours came when another chapter was closing. In 2020, when Mantle Rock Publishing closed its doors, author and publisher Linda Fulkerson saw an opportunity to give some of its titles a new home and continue providing authors with a path to publication. Scrivenings Press was born. What began with a collection of previously published titles has grown considerably over the past six years. Today, Scrivenings Press is owned and operated by Linda Fulkerson, Liana George, and Heather Greer, supported by two part-time staff members, and represents more than 60 authors with a catalog of more than 200 titles. We may still be a small press, but our books cover a lot of shelves.
Stories for Many Kinds of Readers
Scrivenings Press specializes in clean and Christian fiction, with books for adult, young adult, and middle-grade readers. Our catalog includes historical fiction and romance, contemporary romance and women’s fiction, biblical fiction, mystery and suspense, speculative fiction and fantasy, middle- grade adventures, and seasonal stories. Our books are available digitally and in paperback, with select titles also offered in hardcover and large-print editions. While faith is an important part of many Scrivenings Press stories, our authors write across a wide range of settings, time periods, and experiences. Readers can travel to first-century Judea in Linda Dindzans’s A Certain Man and A Certain Mercy, the first two books in the A Certain Future series and two of Scrivenings Press’s bestselling titles. History lovers can head to nineteenth-century California with Denise M. Colby’s award-recognized Best-Laid Plans series or experience lesser-known aspects of World War II through Terri Wangard’s Unsung Stories of World War II trilogy. Laura DeNooyer’s A Hundred Magical Reasons blends historical and dual-time fiction with connections to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz author L. Frank Baum, while Casey Cline’s Bird’s-Eye View series takes inspiration from real-life nineteenth-century traveler Isabella Bird.

From Women’s Fiction to Mysteries, Fantasy, and More
Readers looking for contemporary stories can find faith, family, friendship, and second chances throughout our romance and women’s fiction selections. Lori DeJong’s complete True Calling trilogy explores love, vocation, forgiveness, and belonging, while Deena Adams’s award-winning Stronger than the Storm follows a family facing both personal struggles and the aftermath of a devastating
hurricane. Mystery readers can choose from everything from Ellen E. Withers’s history-infused Show Me Betrayal and the Show Me Mysteries to Gina Holder’s puzzle-driven Game Masters suspense series and Susan Page Davis’s coastal Maine Skirmish Cove Mysteries. For readers who would rather venture into imaginary worlds, Brett Armstrong’s seven-book Quest of Fire series offers an epic Christian fantasy saga beginning with The Gathering Dark, while Dawn Ford’s Firebird trilogy gives young adult readers clean fantasy filled with danger, courage, identity, and adventure.

Scrivenings Press offers contemporary women’s fiction, mystery, suspense, and more.
Our younger readers haven’t been forgotten either. Middle-grade offerings include Dawn Ford’s Band of Unlikely Heroes fantasy series, Susan R. Lawrence’s humorous Hank the Rescue Dog books beginning with It’s the Dog’s Fault, and Siege of Boston, a time-travel adventure that takes young readers into the American Revolution.
Books Worth Discovering
Over the years, Scrivenings Press books and authors have received recognition from the Carol Awards, Christy Awards, Selah Awards, HOLT Medallion, Readers’ Favorite Awards, Realm Awards, Firebird Book Awards, AWSA Golden Scroll Awards, and many others. Awards are wonderful, of course. But one of our greatest privileges as a publisher is helping stories find the readers who need or simply enjoy them. That’s one reason libraries matter so much to us. Libraries allow a single copy of a book to travel from reader to reader, introduce patrons to authors they might never have discovered otherwise, and make stories available regardless of a reader’s ability to purchase them.
Helping Librarians Find the Right Books
With more than 200 books in our catalog, we realize librarians probably don’t have time to sort through every title individually. So we recently created the Scrivenings Press Library Collection Guide, featuring a curated selection of books and series particularly suited to public, school, church, and specialty library collections. The guide includes genres, series information, award recognition, large-print availability, ISBNs, paperback pricing, and ordering information. Explore the Scrivenings Press Library Collection Guide. Paperback editions are available through Ingram unless otherwise noted, and our full catalog can also be browsed through the Scrivenings Press Amazon storefront. And if you’re searching for something in particular, perhaps books for a certain age group, genre, budget, seasonal display, or collection theme, we’re happy to help.
Because after six years, 60-plus authors, and more than 200 books, there’s one thing we’ve learned: There’s almost always another good story waiting to be discovered.
