Overview:

November 1928 in Vienna, Austria to April 1939.

Cora Cain moves back home to Georgia to run the Brunswick, once her family’s grand hotel now the local general store. And when Thomas Watkins arrives looking for work, there is definitely a connection between the two of them.

Cora never would have believed that the war would spread to America but she is asked to house Jewish children fleeing Nazi German control. Amid the chaos of doing that and her father’s unpredictability, romance blooms for Cora and Thomas.

There are many lessons in this book that we can all learn from: being strong under adversity and keeping hope alive. The story is based on true historical events and would be a great book club selection.
