Introduction

Title: The Prince Warriors

Author: Priscilla Shirer, Gina Detwiler

Publisher: B&H Publishing Group

Publication Date: 2016

Format: Print book

Length: 268 pages

OVERVIEW

The book begins with four kids facing tough situations in a real (contemporary) world. Then they’re mysteriously taken to another place (Ahoratos). Once there, they meet their guide, Ruwach, and are given armor to fight the enemy as they face a series of difficulties.

A unique aspect of the book (not a spoiler) is the kids going back to the their real-life circumstances and putting into practice what they have learned.

ASSESSMENT

Rating (1 to 5)

4 stars

Suggested Audience

Upper elementary, maybe middle school.

Christian Impact

This book is an allegory based on the armor of God in Ephesians 6. The book also contains several points of Scripture, or concepts based on Scripture.

As an adult, familiar with the armor of God, I easily picked up on most of the symbolism. I’m not sure if kids would pick up on it quite as quickly. I would suggest a parent or teacher read and explain Ephesians 6 with the kids before the book is read.
