Format:

Paperback

Length:

379 pages

Overview:

The setting is London in 1860. As the back cover states, “Miss Clara Marie Stanton’s family may be eccentric, but they certainly aren’t insane.”  And the story takes off from there! Clara’s ex-fiancé is spreading rumors about her family. This is a day and age when people take such whispers of insanity very seriously and Clara is doing all she can to counter them.

But when her grandfather, Drosselmeyer, (a very astute clockmaker) hires an apprentice with only one leg and begins a journey on his secret flying owl machine, Clara is kept busy countering those rumors and avoiding that persistent ex-fiancé who, of course, as in all Victorian romances, is really after her money! Grand has left her a note as well as continuing to send clues as to his whereabouts. And, of course, do not discount the handsome, albeit one legged, apprentice, Theodore. He holds a very important place in this high spirited adventure!

Rating:

4 out of 5
