Overview:

If you know the story of The Scarlet Letter, this book is rather straight forward and predictable yet interesting to see how the author has related it to Amish life. For those who have not read The Scarlet Letter, it is a tale in Puritan times of a young woman taken advantage of by a more experienced man with rather devious intentions, particularly in a culture where premarital sex is not acceptable. Hannah Muller, the main character in Amish Scarlet Letter does not have to wear an A on her forehead as Hester Prynne does in The Scarlet Letter but still feels the shame of being pregnant and not being married. Of course the story does have a happy ending yet not without the pain and guilt being experienced by the main character particularly.

If you are a classics fan, this is part of a larger series of classics put in an Amish setting.
