Title: The Wild Brothers: Welcome to Our World – Adventure 1
Producer: Mike Wild
Studio: Answers in Genesis
Release Date: April 1, 2015
Format: DVD
Length: 28 minutes
OVERVIEW
How do missionaries teach the Bible? What do they eat? How do the kids do school? What’s it like to live in a remote place? How do they travel? What’s a KFC doing in the middle of the jungle?
Hint: This KFC is not the restaurant.
To learn the answers to these questions, let the Wild family – missionaries Mike, Libby, and their four sons – welcome you to their world in the mountains of Papua, Indonesia.
The Wild brothers introduce themselves, their parents, their friends, and their pets, including two orphaned jungle animals. They explain how they came to be missionaries among the Wano people and what they do, such as translating the Bible, teaching literacy, helping with medical needs, exploring, studying, and joking around. They show how they and their tribal friends built their house and are working on an airstrip.
In a whirlwind half hour, this first DVD adventure of the Wild brothers serves as an introduction to their lives and sets the stage for the rest of the series. Not a lot happens since they have to explain everything, and young boys may be more interested in watching one of the deleted scenes.
Missions-minded churches would enjoy having this DVD on hand so congregants, especially children and teens, can get an up-close look at missionary kid life, God’s creation, and following Jesus.
